In brief
Vagif Mustafazadeh was the central figure of Baku jazz in the 1960s–70s. He brought mugham modes into jazz improvisation, and the fusion grew into a school of its own.
He died on stage at thirty-nine. His daughter Aziza Mustafa Zadeh carries on the language he began.
