In brief
Tahir Salahov was born in Baku and turned the city's industrial landscape into painting: oil trestles, the sea, the faces of workers.
One of his best-known canvases is the portrait of the composer Kara Karayev. Salahov worked for years at the Russian Academy of Arts and on international exhibition projects.
