Museum
The Carpet Museum
The world's first carpet museum — founded in 1967, in its new boulevard building since 2014.
The site is in progress. The domain is reserved; design and texts are under way.
How it will look: each site gets its own colour scheme and structure.
In brief
The museum was founded in 1967 and long occupied the Juma mosque in the Old City. In 2014 the collection moved to a new building on the boulevard whose form — by the Austrian architect Franz Janz — echoes a rolled-up carpet.
The holdings pass ten thousand items: pile and flat-woven carpets, embroidery, metalwork and jewellery. The display is arranged by weaving school — Quba, Shirvan, Ganja, Gazakh, Karabakh, Baku and Tabriz.
